Helping you understand what each status means

Approved

A location status is ‘Approved’ when they have completed:

  • The STTS self-assessment
  • COVID-19 risk assessment
  • Re-opening checklist

And the location has:

  • Passed a remote audit with no open non-conformances. This includes a review of the locations self-assessment and risk assessment
  • Access to ongoing COVID-19 monitoring checks
  • Access to the COVID-19 advice line

The approval status is valid for one year.

Awaiting Assessment

The remote audit report has not been issued.

Improvement Required

A location status is ‘Improvement Required’ when:

  • Audit non-conformances are open
  • There are ongoing issues with daily checks
  • There are ongoing issues with the feedback ratings
  • There are ongoing issues with the self-assessment review after local lockdown
  • The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme score is 0, 1 or 2 in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, Food Hygiene Information Scheme Fail in Scotland
