Examine the menu and identify claims about any ingredients, dishes or beverages. Look out for descriptions of ingredients e.g. references to size, weight, composition, quality, species, origin. For example:
- Wholetail scampi
- 2oz Aberdeen Angus steak
- Pepsi Max
- Organic, fresh, wild, free range, locally sourced, homemade
- Any references to ‘free from’ claims or nutrition and health claims
- 80% pork content
Then check the ingredients that are being used in the kitchen. Look at packaging, delivery notes / invoices, recipes and the food itself.
